The Endocrinology Department at UPMC Shadyside offers a "one-stop" system of comprehensive care for patients with endocrine disorders. A specialized clinical laboratory team offers an extensive menu of services to support physicians in diagnosis and treatment

Patient Services
The department's experienced physicians and professional nursing staff offer many services including medical evaluation and treatment, diagnostic patient testing, and patient education programs.

Diabetes Education Network
This state-approved educational program provided by certified diabetes nurse educators is designed to help diabetics and their families to learn about the disease and how to deliver self-care through education and counseling.

Continuing Education
Training is offered through the department for physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Diabetes Research
The department participates in studies and clinical trials for new medications as well as serving as a beta test site for laboratory materials and instruments.
