Womens Imaging Center
The Women's Imaging Center of UPMC Shadyside offers a comfortable setting
where patients receive state-of-the-art breast imaging services from experts trained in
mammography and other types of breast care.
 Through the center's services, patients are offered the convenience of a central
location for tests and procedures that are necessary in diagnosing diseases such as breast
cancer. In addition, patients are also educated in methods of prevention and early
detection, allowing them to lead healthier lives.
Services
The Women's Imaging Center provides the following services:
- Breast self-examination instruction
- Cyst aspiration
- Ductography
- Mammography
- Needle biopsy
- Preoperative needle localization
- Specimen radiograph
- Ultrasound
- Xeromammography
Staff
The staff consists of radiologists, mammography technologists, and registered nurses.
Office Hours
The center is open Monday and Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday
and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Appointments
Patients are seen on an appointment basis. If you are unable to keep the appointment,
please call the office at least 24 hours in advance at 623-6262.
Arrival at the Center
Patients should check in with the receptionist upon arrival. Patients are then led to a
private dressing room where they can change into a gown. After a staff member reviews the
medical history, a mammogram is performed and instruction given on breast
self-examination.
Payment
The center accepts all types of insurance and participates in Medicare, Medicaid and Blue
Cross/ Blue Shield. If you do not have insurance and are unable to make payments for your
mammogram, please have your physician contact the Women's Imaging Center for information
on our various voucher programs.
