Meet
the Benedum Physicians
David Nace, MD, MPH
Dr. Nace is board-certified in internal medicine. He
earned his bachelors degree in biochemistry, his medical degree
at Temple University in Philadelphia, and his master of public health
degree from the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of
Pittsburgh. Dr. Nace served an internship and a residency in internal
medicine at UPMC Health System where he also completed a fellowship
in geriatrics.
Anne Newman, MD, MPH
After receiving her bachelors degree summa cum laude from the
University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Newman received her medical degree from the University of
Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She served an internship and a residency in internal
medicine and a fellowship in geriatric medicine at UPMC Health System. She earned a master
of public health degree from the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of
Pittsburgh and is board-certified in internal and geriatric medicine. Her interests
include osteoporosis.
David Pasquale, DO
Dr. Pasquale has a bachelors of science degree in pharmacy and a
doctor of osteopathy degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in
Athens, Ohio. He completed an internship at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital; a family
practice residency at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio; and a fellowship in geriatric
medicine at University Hospitals of Cleveland. He is certified in general practice and
geriatrics by the American Osteopathic Board. His interests include palliative and hospice
care.
Judy Plowman, MD, MPH
Dr. Plowman received her bachelor's degree magna cum laude from the
University of Pittsburgh and her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School
of Medicine. She served an internship at the University of Rochester, New York, and a
residency and fellowship at UPMC Health System. She earned a master of public health
degree from the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh and is
board-certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine. Her interests include oral
health and health maintenance.
Neil M. Resnick, MD
Dr. Resnick is chief of the Division of Geriatric Medicine and professor of medicine at
University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Yale University
and Stanford University Medical School, he completed his residency in internal medicine at
Harvard's Beth Israel Hospital. Dr. Resnick completed three fellowships at Harvard Medical
School: gerontology, general medicine, and urodynamics. He is board-certified in both
internal medicine and geriatric medicine. Former director of geriatrics at Brigham and
Women's Hospital, in Boston, he is included in "best doctor" lists locally and
nationally. His clinical interests include urinary incontinence, prostatism, and voiding
dysfunction.
Eric Rodriguez, MD, MPhil
Dr. Rodriguez is medical director of Benedum Geriatric Center. He received
a master's degree in anthropology from Yale University in New Haven, Conn., and a medical
degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where he also completed an
internship in internal medicine. He served a residency in internal medicine at
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, N.H. Dr. Rodriguez is board-certified in
internal and geriatric medicine. His interests include drug utilization in older adults
and health maintenance.
Michelle Rossi, MD, MPH
Dr. Rossi received her bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Cornell
University in Ithaca, N.Y., and her medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine
in New York City. She served an internship and a residency in internal medicine at UPMC
Health System, where she also completed a fellowship in geriatric medicine. Dr. Rossi has
a master of public health degree from the Graduate School of Public Health at the
University of Pittsburgh. She is board-certified in internal and geriatric medicine. Her
interests include late-life depression.
Adele Towers, MD, MPH
Dr. Towers is board-certified in internal and geriatric medicine. After
graduating with distinction from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., she earned her
medical degree at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington. She
served an internship and a residency in internal medicine at UPMC Health System, where she
also completed a fellowship in geriatric medicine. Dr. Towers has a master of public
health degree from the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh.
Her interests include metabolic disorders in the acutely ill.
Debra Weiner, MD
Dr. Weiner is board-certified in internal medicine, rheumatology, and geriatric medicine.
She completed her undergraduate degree in biology at Washington University, St. Louis, and
her medical degree at the University of Missouri, Columbia. She served a residency and
geriatric fellowship at the Jewish Hospital of St. Louis and a rheumatology fellowship and
geriatric research fellowship at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C., where she
later served on the faculty for several years. At UPMC Health System, Dr. Weiner is
director of the Older Adult Pain Management Program at the Pain Evaluation and Treatment
Institute. Her interests include evaluating and managing persistent pain in older adults.
