By providing education, outreach activities, and networking opportunities to patients, their families, and health care professionals, the UPMC Center for Hemochromatosis and Iron Overload Disorders helps people affected by iron overload be as healthy and live as normally as possible.

Education and Outreach for the Public
The center periodically conducts free lectures and blood screenings at various locations throughout southwestern Pennsylvania. Announcements for these screenings appear in newspapers and via radio, television, and this Web site. Call the center at (412) 647-1500 for information about upcoming programs.

Education for Health Care Professionals
The UPMC Center for Hemochromatosis and Iron Overload Disorders conducts continuing medical education programs for health care providers and hospital systems throughout the region. These programs are coodinated through the UPMC Center for Continuing Education in the Health Sciences. Support Group
The center is developing plans for a support group that will be open to all persons with iron overload and their families, partners, and friends. For information or to be included on the support group mailing list, call (412) 647-1500.
