McKeesport Internal Medicine Residency

Usman Ahmad, MD, FACP

Usman Ahmad, MD, FACP, is Chair (Academic and Administrative) of the Department of Medicine of UPMC McKeesport. He had served as program director of the UPMC McKeesport Internal Medicine Residency Program from 1998 to 2005 and as associate program director from 1977 to 1997. He is also the medical director of the Lion’s Diabetes Treatment and Education Center at UPMC McKeesport. In addition, Dr. Ahmad is clinical associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Dr. Ahmad is a graduate of King Edward Medical College, in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed an internship at UPMC McKeesport and internal medicine residency training at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, and completed fellowship training in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at UPMC Shadyside.

Dr. Ahmad is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, and has added qualifications by the American Board of Internal Medicine Geriatric Medicine.

Dr. Ahmad has maintained an active role as a clinician and consulting physician, and has always been a passionate teacher to the residents and medical students. He particularly enjoys bedside teaching rounds and regularly gives formal lectures in endocrinology, geriatrics, ethics, and systems-based practice competencies.
