Internal Medicine Residency Stasia L. Miaskiewicz, MD, FACP
Stasia L. Miaskiewicz, MD, FACP, has served as program director of the UPMC McKeesport Internal Medicine Residency Program since November 2005 after serving as associate program director from September 2000. She also is chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, and former director of the research for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Miaskiewicz graduated from M.S. Hershey College of Medicine in 1983, completed the internal medicine residency program at Mercy Hospital in 1986, and in 1988, completed fellowship training in endocrinology at the University of Pittsburgh. From 1988 to 1991, she was a staff physician at the Polyclinic Medical Center in Harrisburg, and was preceptor for both internal medicine and family practice residencies. From 1991 to 1999, Dr. Miaskiewicz was in private practice at the Joslin Center for Diabetes in Pittsburgh, and was preceptor for the internal medicine and family practice residencies. She then spent two years as a principal investigator on numerous clinical research studies in diabetes and hypertension. In addition to her duties as program director and division chief, Dr. Miaskiewicz is the
educational coordinator of the endocrinology rotation and precepts in the internal medicine
continuity clinic and endocrine clinic. She is a member of the UPMC
McKeesport Diabetes Patient Safety Committee, council member of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American College of Physicians and chair of the associates abstract competition for Western Pennsylvania, the Endocrine Society, the Association
of Program Directors in Internal Medicine, and a fellow of the American
College of Physicians.
